Who or what is Animals Within Animals? The answer changes daily. A loose collective of electronic noisemakers, Animals Within Animals (AWIA) could have anyone as a member, even you. Originally founded by stAllio! nGsta and Lander Kitt as a generic catch-all name for their collaborations with other artists, AWIA slowly transformed into evangelists for plunderphonic sampling and information reuse (but always with a dash of noise). Then the group went into hibernation, focusing on solo projects and reuniting only for live performances and "meta-live" jam sessions, where they would give birth to chaotic walls of harsh noise and cognitive dissonance (but always with an ear for illicit sampling). Now AWIA return to the studio to sample themselves, splicing apart their countless hours of live recordings into bite-sized morsels and blending it in with more pop culture, bent data and circuitry, and other such trash. Nobody can predict what they will metamorphose into next, not even them. But chances are it'll be loud.

Subject: Meet AIWA.
This is really fun, non-pretentious album. It reminds me somewhat of John Oswald, but i think that AIWA are more effective in their approach. In the first track you have Ramones, U2, REM and countless others bashing each other on the head, while "How Not To Talk Dirty" apparently mixing phrases from porn movies (with people talking about finger sucking) and toon samples. Nice !
